Interesting post from Yahoo BLTI thread:

I view the FDA clearance as key. The ablative resurfacing
market was worth several hundred million dollars shared by 15-20
laser companies making CO2 and then erbium systems. The latter gained popularity because they reduced post-op morbidity but they
are definitely less effective at increasing skin tone. The Skin Toner is the first and only non-ablative laser available now for
increasing skin tone with NO post-op morbidity. The point
is that this is a unique opportunity for us in Biolase, we may never need to share this market if we gain broad patent protection. Moreover, unlike the ablative resurfacing lasers that use free-beam delivery systems, the Skin Toner uses a mandatory single-use, disposable contact delivery system which means we get significant trailing income off of each laser sale. Finally, look for enormous growth in the number of candidates for this non-invasive technology: if 350,000 resurfacing procedures were done in the USA last year, I'll bet the number of Skin Toner procedures will easily top 1M/year. Remember, this is done at an earlier stage, can be repeated as needed, and its the only system for stretch marks. With three major product launches this year, Biolase is a bargain. <<
