I'm a long way from retiring but have made about 30% more in the market (on paper) this year than I've been paid at my regular job.

If I can see the type of returns over the next 3 years that I've seen over the past 3, I wouldn't retire, but I would become a sculptor or painter or professional fisherman. Something fun instead of this regular business 9-5, deadline driven, dealing with suits, day to day crap.

GO DELL!

I worked 20 years as Aero Engg,ending as a GS-12 at BA
On 3 or 4 times recently my days paper profits (mostly Dell) exceeded my gross yearly salary at BA, and one day it was double. And I know some people on SI who have five times as much Dell. ( and some lurkers have got to have much more(Hehehe)
Three years ago I was fixing cars and boats to make a few spare bucks to supplement my $1100 monthly retirement income.

I am up almost 50% since December and YES I do make a lot more money from investing than I do on my regular job. Unfortunately, for now, the bulk of my investment is from my IRA account. If Dell were to have a repeat performance of the last 12 months it would be very tempting to consider retiring.

To all that respond to this post.
Congrats to all.
I just want to point out that current market returns are above trend.
These typs of trends have a tendency to reverse themselves over time.

I hope all of you continue to prosper,
But be careful.
One really bad day, and you can loose more money than you ever thought you would make.

I'm making about 4 times as much on investments as I do in my 'day' job - of course that may say something about my 'day' job!!
