Rational Software Corporation Announces First Quarter Results

CUPERTINO, Calif., July 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Rational(R) Software Corporation RATL today announced results for the first fiscal quarter ended June 30, 1998.

Revenue for the first quarter of fiscal 1999 increased to $82,971,000 from $66,148,000 for the same quarter last year.

The company reported net income for the first quarter of fiscal 1999 of $8,005,000 or earnings of $0.09 per share on a diluted basis, compared to net income of $5,128,000 or earnings of $0.06 per share on a diluted basis for the same quarter last year.

As a result of the company's July 1997 merger with Pure Atria, accounted for as a pooling of interests, the information herein and the accompanying condensed consolidated financial statements are presented on a combined basis for all periods shown.
