Bear Stearns, Intel -2: Ups 1999 Net View 10c, To $3.50/Shr

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Bear Stearns & Co. upgraded Intel Corp. (INTC) to buy from neutral, analyst Andrew Neff said.

Neff said his 1998 earnings estimate remains $3 a share for 1998, but he increased his 1999 earnings estimate to $3.50 a share from $3.40.

"We think the company could be at an inflection point in view of signs that (the PC) inventory correction is easing," Neff said.

He added that the high-end Xeon microprocessor should have a positive impact on Intel earnings.
