All,

The new airport in Hong Kong apparently is not using any form of biometrics at this time - perhaps sometime in the future.

excerpt-

In 1995, the department evaluated a futuristic system based on biometrics, or the human body. Where an immigration counter normally would be, a user would slide into the machine a smart card on which passport information was stored, and hold up a palm or finger to a scanner to verify his or her identity.

Mr Chow said that although the biometric system may work in the future, that version was not quite ready.

"Our pilot study confirmed that the technology was not mature enough to satisfy exacting security standards, nor could it clear passengers as fast as Icas can," he said.
