Could this perhaps be the point? i.e. squeezing massive short positions taken on news of the earnings? So hard to know what represents valuation vs. manipulation of the stock.

I don't know about that - it could be.

I'd rather think that more investors are realizing what a tremendous VALUE Intel is - to the industry, the country, and to investors.
