There is some rumor about their new online store, although I have no idea what it is. Since this will be a .com, it should soar.

Also we are probably getting a small short squeeze.

Yesterday the Wall Street Journal said Compaq's cheapest computer is now its most profitable consumer PC. If margins on sub $1000 computers are better for manufacturers than people thought, perhaps retail will realize some improved margins on the lower cost systems as well.

Perhaps this is just one more positive that helped fuel the rise today.
