Tom- I'm not saying this was a "scheme", but as a wise fund manager he understands that every bubble bursts and one should hedge their position. He managed a hedge fund after all. Bill Gates sells shares in MSFT, Dell sells shares in DELL, he also filed to sell his AMZN holding BTW as did Jim Barksdale. I don't presume to know his long term intentions, but I do presume that AMZN reached a $5 billion dollar market cap faster than he assumed and being a wise fund manager he knows it could be a fraction of that in 3, 6 or 12 months regardless of how good the company does. AMZN the stock is currently a trading vehicle. He knows that, other fund managers know that, the only ones who don't are neophytes to the market who thing they're buying the next MSFT. Two years ago they were buying Y2K companies and Presstek, before that it was HSN and gold stocks.

Best Wishes,

Timoteo

So Tom D., To what philanthropic, for the good of humankind level do you think Bezos believes he can take this Ticker to? How many billions do you think he expects to make on this? Give us a conservative estimate of market cap when all is finally at equilibrium--give or take the GDP of three or four third world nations...

Did it ever occur to you that it could even be possible that Bezos believes in the long-term prospects for the company? And, that like most longs who bought early, and like most insiders, he wants to hold on for the long term?

Just my two cents with no evidence but...

The primary reason why Bezos still drives a Honda is IAUS and the plethora of analogous situations to IAUS. Many here may be familiar with this case already. Those that aren't should look it up, it's a great story.

Boy, Bezos can't catch a break. If he dumps shares he will be criticized profusely here. If he holds, we'll criticize him anyway.

James,

I don't think Amazon has ever broken down sales by region before. But I would not be surprised by any headlines that come along with the quarterly report. I do expect them to say very positive things about the music sales, but I don't think they'll break them out on the income statement.

I'm no accountant, but it seems to me that Amazon breaks down there sales and expense information as little as possible. Perhaps they're just trying not to tip off the competition. The Washington Post made it sound like Bezos was down right paranoid about giving out information on the business.

John

Sorry for the run-on post. The free-trial limits me to only three posts a day.

If you continue this "denial of reality"--and continue believing that Bezos is on the verge
of some "scheme" to "cash in" and are wrong, it may cost you a lot of money.

Tom,

It is my opinion AMZN is totally a scam. Reality is this company will go bankrupt. However, I have a lost a bundle on it in the meantime. That makes me incorrect from an investing point of view but not regarding the future of Amazon.con.

Glenn

PS This is not really investing anymore. It is strictly gambling.
