re:You ever consider that all the positive spin on the Celeron was just "hype"?

i'm sure some of it was. My point was that intel was putting its own "spin" on things and managing the analysts and press, as opposed to the other way around, which seems more the Intel-way of doing things. As a shareholder, I prefer the former.

How 'bout that HUGE INTC move today ?!?!?!?!?! Gotta love it, huh Jim ?? I sure do !!!!

One thing to keep in mind, the big boys like MSFT and DELL have DOUBLED already this year. The money keeps flowing in, and the fund managers have to buy something. INTC is DIRT CHEAP compared to MSFT and DELL, and INTC has an even greater competitive advantage than they have ever experienced. They are sailing along making BILLIONS of dollars each quarter.

ROLL BABY ROLL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GO INTC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

McMannis - Re: "Notice that Intel wouldn't give any information on product mix."

During the conference call, Paul Otellini specifically stated that Celeron shipments were 5% of the unit volume during Q2.

Intel is shipping around 20,000,000+/- CPUs per quarter, so that pegs their unit volume of Celerons as 1,000,000 +/- for the past quarter.

Rumor has it that Intel is mounting a production onslaught of Mendocino chips for the next Celeron - which may be introduced in late August.

This will keep AMD's K6-2 devices "down and dirty".

Jim, re:"You ever consider that all the positive spin on the Celeron was just "hype"? If you read between the lines you might find another story."

Listen - I read between the lines and up the margins on Intel and guess what?, I find the same story...

Did you catch the restrained wild enthusiasm in Andy Bryant yesterday? For that chronic worrier you saw flat out exuberance. The message I got is that Intel saw the bottom this quarter and has a bead now on slowly increasing revenues with stable margins and continuing cost containment. Xeon revenues will kick in in Q4 significantly.

Now Jim - Why don't you put down the torch and come on over. Your a smart guy and can see that you will be treated well by Intel...
