Doug, NN 22% down GREAT NEWS!
Several points I wish to make about your post if I may.
You are correct NN is down 22% and trails the pack in the networking sector since cisco last earnings report. However I for one like the idea of buying low and selling high, I have personally increased my holdings in NN by over 100% during that period and here are several reasons why.
1- See post #5525 N Zucco talked about TM talk to RBC DS brokers about the prospects for NN. Several things he said were -NN on the short list of two for the Global One contract (GM's comment HUGE) - Bidding on a contract with SouthWest Bell - The ATT contract - has contract with one of Asia's largest carriers not announced yet.
2- The $2 billion sale of internet from MCI to C&W should impact NN as C&W is a large NN client.
3- Lutz, and the reorg of the company including the board of directors
4- Siemens and the 36190 will pay big dividends in the next 4 Q's. Europe will continue to be a strong area for NN. COMS partnering should start impacting NN this year.
5- The stable of companies that NN has started up with a little help from TM like Cambrian, Crosskeys, Vienna, ACC, Ironbridge... could be the future for NN?
6- See post 5532 Djane ... Netwatcher management suitors, lots of prospects but I for one would like NN to not sell unless a big payoff is in the offing (minimum $70 Canadian) due to the above listed items.
7- One of NN problems is that they build great products priced slightly higher than that of a Bay or Cisco type companies products but mutiple times more reliable. This bodes well for selling to the telco type companies as they insist on this type of quality for their equipment, however mass market type company's like the cheaper type equipment even though the quality and reliabilty may not be as good. Conclusion NN will need to establish a modified product type geared to the non telco market "mass market" (Lutz?). The Cisco's of the world need to improve their offerings for the telco market, where would you want to be?

In closing time is what we need to see this companies stock move up. I am not sure how long NN has before someone comes kicking tires and placing a price on the car. Their are lots of funds I fear that would take the money and run even if the price is not what it should be.

Regards
Glenn
