"Nevertheless, many IT managers are being forced to
take that risk. According to Cutter Consortium, of
Arlington, Mass., some companies are diverting as
much as 80 percent to 90 percent of their IT budgets
to Y2K work. On average, 24 percent of corporate IT
budgets is being diverted to Y2K projects.
In the
insurance and telecom industries, the average is even
higher: 38 percent."
