I loved Bitter Moon. I tend to be a bit bitter myself- have you ever heard a poem that goes something like this- In the desert I saw a creature, naked, bestial, Who squatting on the ground, Held his heart in his hands, I said "Is it good friend?" "It is bitter, bitter," he replied, "But I like it because it is bitter, and because it is my heart." I think it is by Stephen Crane- and if I could find my Norton Anthology I could tell you for sure. But that is close- I love that poem. I love bitterness, because it is in me- just as the poem suggests. Oooh- wasn't this a literate post? Well don't take me too seriously, except that it IS a favorite poem.
