Colby, My gut feeling is that something serious already occured at the negotiating table even if nothing is signed yet. It is in the best interest of J&J and Astra to see Vivus thrive. If they both are serious about buying Vivus then Vivus can't just have an open biding auction between them. I imagine that a joint buy out between the two would be an even better arangement since each already has an established territory. They will just have to negotiate the best price. If Astra or J&J bought Vivus they would have a lot more to gain than just a domestic partnership would and you can bet that they would aggressively market to the PCPs in the US.
