D,

I will continue to keep CPQ on the 'radar' screen. If and when CPQ begins to demonstrate continued success, I will add CPQ to my DELL and MSFT holdings. This is NOT inconsistent with my investment objectives to make money!

Regards,

Ken

To Dell-icious the Dedicated!

Thanks for the advisement from Louis Corrigan and Chris Rugaber, much to think about and digest!

I really can't get too involved in publicly getting too deep into their statements in a critical fashion.

From my perspective, anytime someone obviously puts in a great deal of thought or benefits us with their expertise or simply strikes me as providing commentaries that are insightful and instructive, even if I could be critical, I rather not ,unless it would be, in mind, harmful not to call it as I see it .

In that spirit, I will say right now, I do not agree with the statement made by one commentator:
" Compaq dropped from the A to the D list". As been stated, the problem of inventory probably is a thing of the past. The other commentator gives us that much.

Based on the major problem as it existed at that time ( inventory back up ) that, in part, caused Compaq to go from an " A" to a "D", to classify Compaq as a " D" now, seems a little harsh and a little off the mark.

However, the "D" rating that this gentleman gives Compaq is nailed to his assessment of what he says was management's untruthful dealings with the public. He goes on to cite an example that, if true, would seem to be a basis for shareholder class action. With none forthcoming thus far, I tend to think that his case might be less stronger then it's presentation.

Yet, he does rise cause for caution.

The other commentator supplies us with information. He leads us to believe that that Compaq is a much better bet than does the first cited commentator.

He points out that both Dell and Compaq face challenges .

He hits us with: " Compaq's 'broading' of it's business is a good thing. Dell, meanwhile, will also face challenges. Until recently, it's main supplier of customer services was Digital Equipment Corporation. Whoops!"

He does not develop this any further, so he leaves us and leads us to draw our own conclusions. His enthusiasm for Compaq places it a lot closer to what I would categorize as a "B+" bet. He, however assigns no rating of any kind.

Without the benefit of these gentlemen's input, I would have said that Compaq was now on my B list ( if I had one ). They have a real good opportunity to go to B+. The way I figure it, they must go to "B+" before they can go an "A". Fair enough?

I see Dell as an "A". Dell has yet to go to A+.

You should know that I think getting to A+ is a long way off. Dell is heading there.

So where does that leave those of us who are trying to get at the facts, view them in a rational way and respond to our conclusion(s) as to how the investing community will view this, and then execute the proper( best course monetarily) action? (Or any facsimile thereof).

Right now, I am holding off until I can check this out further. I want to see how this plays out a bit.

Now that Compaq is moving to a better place than they were before, I intend to give this Dell/Compaq " thing" closer scrutiny.

I would be interested in posts with direct response to Dell-icious' post on this. I know Michael said something about posting Dell-icious' post on the CPQ thread. Any input from anyone there or here on this?

There is quite a bit of traffic on this thread so any help given in getting at this would be appreciated.

I will travelling Friday and will be away for the weekend. I anticipate on going through around 500 posts(?) just to catch up on all the action on Tuesday!

You know a lot of us will be glued to MD's comments on Friday. Looking forward to seeing justified euphoria!

TO ALL: Try to be kind to the "other Dell thread".

To Dell-icious:

Thanks for the thought provoking information. Your finding the energy and the time to provide us with this kind of good stuff has been evident throughout this thread.

Regards
