Key items from conference call:

Q3 gross margins will improve to Q1 levels
Q3 revenue will increase sequentially

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to calculate Q3 earnings will take a substantial leap. That was the last question put forth at the conference, and management basically acknowledged the conclusion.

Additionally:
Operating expenses will decline (due to expense controls, i.e. layoffs).
Wireless sales will return to second half 97 levels (65% in second half).
Inventory corrections are over for wireless and consumer sectors.
The slowdown in Q1-99 will be more modest than this year, ~10%.

I just finished listening to the conference call. Overall, I am very happy. Design wins up significantly. Either keeping or GAINING market share at ALL major customers. Fab utilization expected to return to 80% range the coming qtr. Major increase in bookings at the end of Q2. Expect large ramp of CDMA chips 1Q and 2Q 99. I really didn't hear anything that I didn't like. We'll see what the analysts say in the morning. Jay
