Yup yup yup- the goal is building the church (it is after all modeled on the Roman empire and we know what they were into- World Domination.) Same for most churches. Not all, of course, but most. After all people of all creeds and breeds are given to a bit of tyranny now and then. It seems to be in the human psyche. It is as human to hate as to love (perhaps more human to hate) that is why SAINTS are SAINTLY. They are aberrations- no matter what religion you find them in. So I agree with Ish that what humans view of God, is probably the same no matter what God, or other belief (and I do not know what it is- whether it is some neurological feedback, or something other than our selves, or something other IN ourselves), but I do not agree about the goal- it is not for the most part the happiness of mankind- if it only were!

Out of respect, Ish deserved a response. It could not be better stated than yours. Oh, if it were all that easy: nomenclature!

Seriusly, is there a chance in hell that Emile is a big spoof? Like the English teacher who came up with the most recent explanation for Flight 800?

His wings seem able to flutter all around the orchard - but his talons are dug into a single branch. Is he kidding us all? geo

Ok I'm getting in over my head. I see one God and he is worshiped in many ways. Call him Whatever. Emile won't like it and many others won't either. The praise of God even though she is Mother Nature is the same. One Supreme Being no matter what the name.

Dang penni, I'm getting old and would like some answers as my soul time is getting close. I'm in the top 5% of the donors in my church but that's not supposed to count as I don't give with an "open heart" 'cause I don't go to services.

Religeon has caused many unjust wars.

"The happiness of mankind is not really the goal. "

You prove one think with this statement: that you know absolutely nothing about Chritianity and Chirst.
It is precisely the goal but you confuse happiness with sin.
Jesus gives us righteouness and reconciliation to the Fahter which in turn gives us unspeakable peace and joy-----real happiness.

Whosoever shall believe in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ shall be saved. He cleanses us from all our unrighteouness and makes us into sons and daughters who can enjoy our fellowship with him. Christianity is a religion of joy and happiness and real life..
