Hello Steve <<But why do you think he does this at judgement time, after you die? >> I am not saying that is the only time it happens. I was just using that as an example of a situation god is faced with from time to time. the fact that given those two choices and one outcome, only one response is "god-like", in my opinion. <<Also let me pose this question, would God be fair if he tells us clearly while we live our lives here an now, that the only way to be saved is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior (and obviously he gives you a fair opportunity to do so), and then provides you a second chance after you die? Would that be fair to the people that were saved in this life and lived the Christian life?>> I dont think it is a question of fair. when you die and go to heaven, I dont think you are any longer concerned with the same tyoes of petty value systems that we on earth are concerned with. Fair is on eof those concerns. what I mean by that, is that an evolved soul would only be concerned with the highest goals and not petty value systems. the highest goal would be for every soul to achieve the highest sttate of perfection. that would supercede what is fair. another example would be someone who abused or handicapped or born into abject poverty with no social structure and perhaps no exposure to chrisitanity. they could legitimitely claim that they were treated in an unfair way as it pertains to their mortal soul. far more than "I did all the right things, and that soul didnt, so i dont want him to have the same reward as i do." that doesnt seem like a heavenly concept to me. <<Now, if we went with your scenario, which you laid out, and we got a second chance. What if we blew that chance? Should we get endless chances. For your theory to be fair, you should be rehabilitated until you make the cut. And if that is true, why bother even live a life that ends in judgement. Everyone would pass eventually, so why bother going through the exercise. Why not just make everyone perfect upfront>> Yes we should get unlimited chances to perfect our souls(and I beleive that we do) gods intention that we should all be reunited with him. the reason we bother is that we learn from our mistakes. that doesn't take away from choice and free will. we are free to make any mistake we want and free to learn from them. It is a process of growth.
