Stephen, >>>Kurlak was on the ML squawk box again today..and you knew he'd be resolute in his anti-Intel stance. Well what else is new? <<<

Let's not take anything away from Kurlak. His reputation is well deserved. However, he is now taking on mythical proportions. Let's put this guy in perspective.

He is human like the rest of us. He has probably been right more times than he was wrong in the past when it counted. He is from what I understand an aggressive east coast financial type guy with a background that included working for a small bank in New Jersey - before hitting the big time at ML. He has made the most of his opportunities at ML. A lot of it is due to his hard work - but a lot of it has also been purely due to good luck. All in all, he is now a very powerful force in the investment community. When he speaks, billions of dollars are made and lost.

Therein, is where I see the seeds for his destruction. He now has this enormous eqo - wherein he not only is an industry analyst - he is now a major force in the semiconductor industry. He can move this market.

He doesn't have an engineering background - he doesn't have much experience in the semiconductor industry - other than from what he finds out from reading marketing research reports from other ML researchers and from talking to industry sources that he has developed over the years.

He is a very smart guy (and very opportunistic - in the best sense of the word)- but he has no special information or special skills. He is like a lot of smart people that we know - except he has been very lucky - been at the right place at the right time and made the most of it. There is nothing super special about this guy - except that he has created this super mythical image - and to a large extent he can artificially distort the market. He can't add any real value. He can only distort things.

Does he really understand microprocesors and the future implications of microprocessors? Does he have a special vision of the future in a digital world? Does he know something about the future that nobody else knows?

I just don't think so.

Regards,

Mary
