John -
CPQ has intel based workstations which undercut Dell's in price for the same features. They offer both Unix and NT based workstations, Dell offers only NT. Alpha solidifies one section of that picture - the high end high performance segment.

John,

I don't have time to recheck my message but in cost terms, Alpha is probably too high in price, even with the recent reduction CPQ announced. From a performance basis, Alpha tops Intel any day, DELL, IBM, etc....

I think in the short terms existing Alpha customers benefit. it is up to the CPQ marketing and services machine to push Alpha into the channel.
