seems to me the last time Intel had any srious (sic) competition was when the AMD had the 396-40 (sic) and Intel had a 386-33

Of course by then Intel had introduced the 486, but not wanting to quibble.

How can you consider a company competition when they are several speed grades behind, yielding half of what Intel does and lost .45/share last quarter?

Ever watch a 1992 Olympic basketball game? Sorta like that. There was competition yes, but the competitors were not in the same league with the Dream Team!. It is up to the wannabees to best Intel. Why do you wish for Intel to crap down to their level? And why do you argue with fact? Why don't you just join this winning team?

When you think of competition think more like Ford vs GM vs Chrysler

Jim, do you really want this industry to be as badly managed as these companies? Your making my point. Intel will have competition if and when it loses its own excellence.

Meanwhile, Jim, what's wrong with excellence???
