********* CIMA CANGALLI FUND OVERVIEW - JULY 15 ************

A lot of newcomers to the thread out there. If you do not know what this FUND and THE TRIP are all about, your dd is incomplete, start asking questions, and if you wish to participate, make suggestions, then send me $$. All cheques received are held by me until required. No cheques have been cashed to date, receipts will be issued when necessary, and if funds not needed all cheques will be either destroyed or returned.

Quick overview is that, as quoted in a few newspapers, a group of SI investors are pooling some $$ to send two representatives down to La Paz and Cangalli to do some on site DD. Presumably Guido will be giving a mine site tour, TT may be along, as well as local company officials. CIMA is going. He speaks Spanish, and will cover the business, political, and cultural side of things, and try to make some local contacts in Cangalli, Tipuani, and with the Cangalli Cooperative. The other member of the team is not yet finalized, but will be a person trained in geology and the more technical side of gold mining, reporting, analysis, etc. See original post #5098 from June 13.

Originally the FUND was started to pay CIMA's return airfare from Calgary to La Paz, the cost of plane or truck from La Paz to Tipuani, hotel, food, etc. I was to accompany CIMA, paying my own way and using airline points for the fare, officially as photographer, videographer, (unofficially as just a guy taking a heck of a trip, and checking out fly fishing opportunities) to record sites and impressions for all contributors. Contributions were set at $100 U.S. ($150 Cdn). For the $100, contributors would get written reports of whatever findings, feelings, etc., still pictures of the site, and a video tape of any interviews with officials, locals, the site, whatever could be filmed.

CIMA, I hope, as the status of the trip progresses will fill you in with more of what to expect, and what not to expect from the trip.

Now that I am not going, and we hope to send a more knowledgeable, technical representative, we need to raise more $$. My quick guesstimate for 2 people is about $4000 U.S. all told. If there is extra $$ left over, well I'm open to suggestions if that is the case.

Up to date status of the fund to follow.

Regards,

Jim

ps: This trip has garnered a lot of press and tv interest. Not a lot has actually been said about it, other than mentions in RMN, and the Globe & Mail, but that should change due to the human interest side it adds to THE STORY, along with SI members advising the press all over N. America about it. I'm sure there will be an SI chapter in the MINE book soon to be written, movie rights to follow??

Jim, an all - your description of my education, experience and research were correct, and I have expressed interest in going on the trip, should it happen. Since a few people asked yesterday about my background,I will add just a couple more details. As Jim mentioned, my expertice is not mining engineering, but I am a field geologist by education and training. I spent 7 years in environmental consulting (as did most oil and mining geologist from the 70's and 80's) performing drilling and sampling projects, a great number of which were in alluival deposits such as this one, before enrolling full time at CSM for my master's degree. I can't tell you I'm the best person available to analyze a mine deposit, but private consultants are expensive and I would add some measure of technical insight. Thanks again to all who were interested enough to read my lengthy posts.

as always, if any one questions about the geology of the Cangalli area, or mining techniques such as the acid leach process, I have reviewed Mr Paravicini's brief summary of his investigation available on the GE web site, and have started in on the 1991 report.

toma, taanders@mines.edu

p.s. Steve WW, excellent posts...are you in golden? please e-mail me.

Jim/Cima

I agree that Toma would be a great choice to head down to Bolivia. Sounds like he has a great background and knowledge in mining geology as well data validation. This knowledge will be essential for addressing the concerns that we all have about the property/report. He will also be able to ask the appropriate questions to the company, 3rd party , and hopefully Guido, and understand the complicated answers.
