Dont forget the FFVII book .

I haven't played FFVII but as far as I can see its pretty complex, and in the store where I looked (EB) there were a large quantity of guide books which were pretty pricey as well. So maybe the truer selling cost of the game is cost of game + cost of book*percent of people who buy the book. This could be adding another $5 to $20 per game, and because its a sort of hidden cost (maybe you buy the book after a few weeks) is in some way cancelling out any rebates and at the same time not putting the imediate price of the game up so much that people dont buy it.

One slight disclaimer, its a few weeks since I looked at the book, though so I'm pretty confident that it was produced by or in liason with Eidos, I can't remember for sure. Anyone have a copy and care to tell us the price and mention of connection with Eidos?

One further point, the book is really large and has lots of pictures, and so a free Internet-based walkthru is probably less of a competitor for the book than for some other games.
