EARNINGS UPDATE: COMPAQ DELIVERS ON A PROMISE "They met their commitment of bringing the commercial channel inventories down below four weeks," said Daniel Kunstler, analyst with J.P. Morgan Securities. "That was their commitment, that was their message, and they delivered." Mr. Kunstler, like most analysts on the Street, had been worried that despite dramatically falling PC prices, Compaq still might not have been able to draw down its inventories to manageable levels.
