I hadn't even thought of the Radio Shack deal in quite some time, and I haven't checked any of the stores to see how the computer sales are going. The salesmen at the store near me are friendly, not too knowledgeable, but they possess enough knowledge to handle the typical Radio Shack computer buyer, which is someone who knows very little about computers but wants one. I fit that description once, and I bought a series of Tandys years back(that worked fine as long as I kept them) from them. Now that RS is selling Compaqs that are readily available in other stores at probably a cheaper price, it would be interesting to know how they are doing. I'll check out the store near me.

I think Radio Shack is good for CPQ. It gets the first-time buyer in the door. Once the first-time buyer has your machine, they are very likely to buy more from you as they expand. Not to mention the stuff you can sell them at the on-line web site like more disk drives, upgrades of various kinds, etc.
