david, let me pass on an experience from this morning which is typical of my experiences with etrade. i make 10 to 20 trades per month between etrade and discover, mostly with etrade. this morning i put in a limit sell for amat at 31 15/16. at 09:39 it looked to be stuck at 31 7/16 x 1/2 so i put in a change order to 7/16. well it started to move up and hit 15/16 x 32. in my mind i made a mistake. when i got the trade message about a minute later, i had sold at 15/16 and the 7/16 was cancelled. i can guarantee you that with discover i would have gotten the 7/16 and would not have known it for at least 5 minutes. i read a lot of naysayers on this thread and i am sure that with the volume of trades there probably are some mistakes made. but when i compare etrade to discover, there is no comparison and i am in the process of switching my discover assets over to etrade. i have given discover a year to come up to speed and they are still at square one IMHO. this is my experience and should not be taken as anything but.
