I think they'll break the barrier before the close of business tomorrow...and POSSIBLY as early as today. If it happens that quickly I wouldn't be suprised to see some profit taking.

I'm basing my opinion on how Dell has historically performed AND more importantly the attitude of investors lately. There are billions of fresh dollars pouring into the market weekly from foreign investors, I think a lot of people have digested the "Asian" scare and the recent adjustments investors have made in their attitudes toward companies (not expecting big numbers during earnings.) Compaq had a tough quarter (bloated inventories, acquisition, etc, etc) and although their numbers were weak compared to most other quarters the stock dropped less than a dollar.

I think the money is there, the confidence is coming back in the "tech" sector and Dell is looking very strong.

P.S. I don't recall who predicted Dell would be at $55/share...it now
looks like they may be close...post split.
