Craig, thanks for the suggestions on readings in Buddhism. Mindfulness training is very widespread where I live, offered by most hospitals as a serious course that takes many weeks, and forty-five minutes of meditation every day. I live in San Francisco, so there are several Buddhist centers in the area, and dharmas visiting and lecturing frequently.

What I find to be the obstacle is the practice of meditation, in fact. It requires self discipline which I don't seem to have. Is there any way to study Buddhism seriously which doesn't require meditation? I know this is probably a stupid question, but it is a serious one.
