Grant, sorry it has taken me so long to answer your posts. Your analogy of God killing people to me rearing children is interesting, so I did want to comment on it. When I had a child, I assumed that she was born in a state of spiritual innocence and as a blank slate at the same time, so that if she were loved and treated well she would never seriously rebel or do anything very wrong. Now children have to rebel just a little to develop as individuals and leave the nest, but aside from that normal seeking out of her own style, my child has never done anything for which she needed to be punished. In fact, I think most of the evil things men do are because they have brain injuries, or have been punished severely or abused or otherwise made to feel powerless as children.

What I am saying is that if there is a God, and he created all things, then he himself created the evil in the world. He could have created something better by being more loving, and so in a way he has only himself to blame. Look at the messes he has created in his believers, all hating various groups of other believers, even though they worship the same guy. I never would have been such a bad parent!!
