Re: That huge fab sitting there in a slow growth
environment must be too much for these guys to handle

K, you are more tapped into Taiwan than I am. I have always suspected that this year's fall semi rally will not start here but in Taiwan - here each company is separate so it's hard to judge overall order rate; in Taiwan, they see orders from everybody and thus can judge whether the overall demand is good or not.

TSM just moved up $2.00 today to $19.00. How are the other Taiwan semi guys doing, UMC, mb, FIC box guys etc. If they are rallying together, that may mean they are seeing good PC orders again. If so, LSI may be able to do foundry and just run wafers in the 'huge fab' for a while just to absorb the fixed costs. That is especially true if the fab is for 0.25um. There's a glut of >0.30um foundry capacity, but I suspect the 0.25um are still in demand.
