Damn, right again. I GIVE !!!

BTW, this is from the msft board, very good point:

think MSFT has to put more into the numbers this quarter

Here's why: They have this Justice Department suit. They have millions of people who
have invested in their stock. These people are on Microsoft's side. If Microsoft shows
that Win98 is essential to both its performance and that of the hardware manufacturers
and rewards its stock holders, then no Reagan era Court is going to put the kabash on
the company.

The minute Microsoft falters however they will lose their supporters as fast as their
supporters lose their profits.

I may be cynical but this is the way the system works. Americans love a winner and hate
a loser. They hate someone that turns them into losers. Right now MSFT is a winner. If
it is within Microsoft's power to put deferred earnings into this quarter to create a
blow-out, it makes good political sense to do so.

As to the P/E arguments. I took the other side of that one with a short position but I
think you have to look at Reggie Middleton's analysis to see how P/E's don't really give
you the total picture on a company like this one. They are growing right through this
downturn in the hardware end of the industry. I'm no longer short!
