<<Only if it is a Very Nice Box.>>

Alex, all of the boxes around here are very nice!!! They even have little holes punched all over the top with a fork, so you can survive almost indefinitely. Food for your particular species, and water, and nesting materials are provided as well. Aren't ya lucky?

In regard to the dole, doesn't the government buy food to keep prices up so that farmers can make profits? I know that Clinton moved in to support wheat prices recently, by buying a whole lot of it. That food has to go somewhere, so what is really wrong with feeding poor hungry children and impoverished pregnant women with it? It seems to be a system which works well for several different reasons, one of them being at least a decent attempt to give innocent children a reasonable chance to grow up without mental retardation or rickets.

I must say that I am always really surprised at everyone here who does not differentiate between adults and children when they are talking about social policy, because it seems cruel to me. A malnourished child has little chance of growing up to be a stable and productive member of society. In fact, if we are not going to try to take care of children in America, why do we make heroic efforts to save the premature babies of Medical recipients? Wouldn't it be more humane to let children starve or die of diseases or abuse and neglect as soon as possible, so as not to stretch out their miserable lives?
