Hello,
Yes you are right.... I have not kept up with Novell
over the past few years, because technically there is
no reason to.... Over 5 years ago I decided to stay
as far away from Novell as possible because of TCP/IP
Networking advances... I could have taken classes paid
for by my company at the time to get my "CNE" (Novell
Union Card). My responce was I might as well take a class
on servicing Ford Model A engines as well or braiding
buggy whips, because in 10-15 years there won't be a Novell.
I was doing credit card transaction hosts on UNIX at the
time and connecting Windows 3.51 clients to the network with
what was the oringinal tcp/ip sofware... Where did Novell
fit into my needs then, nowhere....

To respond to your issues:
1. 75 Million Un-educated Users who belong to the
pigeon holed crowd I talked about in my last posting.
2. Is there a reason why I have no knowledge of their
products living in a network in a Fortune 50 Company...
The answer is I don't need them, this translates to me
not buying their product, and them not making any money.
(I.E. Stock not in a growth path...)
3. Turnaround CEO????? What is his 5 year plan? I can only
Wonder if they would be better suited selling beanie babies
over the internet with the growth of internet commerce under
the Novell name, maybe it would count for something???
What could NOVELL possibly be providing me to solve my
computing needs? Another Web browser maybe or just some
network management software like CA-UNICENTER????
4. My fundamental knowledge of Novell is that their long
term success is questionable... They are loosing clients
everyday.... It is only time before people running NOVELL
servers realize they can load 95/98/NT etc.., connect the
cables etc.... Where does NOVELL fit in.... Don't get
me wrong I have never liked MSFT... What choice do I have
as a computing professional;
The UNIX community like the OS2 community allowed Microsoft
to take over the world with an inferior product... Kind
of like the Beta-VHS story.... The fact is the UNIX
community could not even execute on COSE... They still
wanted to bicker about Motif and Open Look.... This is
where SUN, SGI, DEC, etc.... disappointed the UNIX
community... At least SUN realized they needed to become
associated with the internet (Java) to make profits easily
in the future, or at least raise stock prices....
Maybe NOVELL should be developing a new programming language
for the Internet?

So Yes my current knowledge of Novell is lacking...
What I do know is that I would not invest any of my
money in a company having trouble and still
sending managers to their little boon-dogle in Maui Hawaii
at a high cost Wailea hotel in January.... They should have
stayed home and brainstormed about how to make money in the
future instead of spending time on the beach talking about
how they are milking stock holders....

Sorry for the long winded reply... I hope this gives you
a clear idea as to why I would much rather put my money into
a company like ATHM then NOVELL.... I bought ATHM in Dec at 18!
