Information on camcorder battery retail pricing.

I have begun to look at the camcorder market. A quick review of Sony camcorder battery retail pricing:

Sony 4 hour camcorder battery: 10.8 watt-hours
Retail price: $60 so about $5.55 per wh.

Sony 8 hour camcorder battery: 21.6 watt-hours
Retail price: $100 so about $4.63 per wh.

Sony 12 hour camcorder battery: 32.4 watt-hours
Retail price: $120 so about $3.70 per wh.

The retailers I visited have a whole rack of these Sony batteries, more than NiMH or NiCd, so my guess is that Li-ion actually has a larger market share of camcorder batteries than laptop batteries.

The batteries are smaller, so I suspect that the pricing per watt-hr will be less than the $1.65 Fred's been using for laptop cells. Also I don't know how big this market is.

Anyone have an idea how big the camcorder battery market is? I suspect it could be significantly larger in terms of units per year, compared to the laptop battery market. If so, the potential revenues from this market could rival laptop batteries, in spite of much lower pricing.
