Gene, IBM PC is struggling right now (especially consumer side), losing business to CPQ, DELL, Gateway, HP, and now even Micron. This will become evident next week. Their consumer PC-lineup looks pretty weak, imo. I do think they sell Celerons to business segment.

I was surpised to see Compaq offering a variety of Celeron processors in their consumer PC line-up. Anyone else notice that on the main screen, they just list the processor speed, not manufacturer. Only if you click on it for more details do they reveal if its a AMD/INTEL chip.

Yes, Mendocino will have a HUGE impact on the low-end, imo, and it's coming faster than most people think.

Gene - Re: "But, if you look at IBM's Aptiva line score for home computers, I get Intel....2 AMD.....5 "

Duhhhh..... Aptiva, Gene, Aptiva!

Two of the three Intel machines were NOTEBOOK COMPUTERS, GENE, NOTEBOOK COMPUTERS!

REREAD THE ARTICLE GENE !

Then - do an AMD inventory for the IBM THINKPAD SERIES. Please report back to us all the Intel-based THINKPADS and the AMD=based Thinkpads, Gene.

I will be waiting for your report, Gene.

By the way - I admire your constant defense of AMD - very admirable.
I especially like your apologies for their poor financial performance.

How many AMD shares do you own? Be truthful now!

Paul
