Of course, I left out another major factor: litigation. For small and medium-sized companies, this whole thing must look a lot like a vice. On one side you have the Y2K problem itself, and on the other, the law firms lining up to screw you to the wall. Even if you can hold one of them at bay, the other can still put on the squeeze. Imagine a company with $10M in revenues getting hit with a $5M lawsuit! Kiss it good-bye.
