Hopefully, some of them will work out. Personally, I avoid suggesting specific issues outright for other people, whevever possible. I don't want to see you posting over here because of some tip that didn't fly:

I took another look at the Cinram thing. Yahoo seems to think they're not trading. Canadian quote services say they are. I'm trying to figure that one out. Maybe it's a little more dicey than I anticipated. If it's any comfort, I was a replication broker for 4 years. Used them a lot and some of the smaller companies they gobbled up. It's a tough biz but Cinram is poised to make the best of it.

The CD-ROM replication market ballooned from 11 to 50 companies in the early and mid-90's. Way too many for the market to support and prices fell sharply. As the smaller ones started falling apart, Cinram picked some of the best, like DMI and brought them into the fold. With DVD emerging, Cinram set-up a JV with Pacific Ocean Post, who handles DVD encoding for many of the new titles (and title conversions) coming out of Hollywood.

The DMI acquisition itself was a major coup for Cinram. DMI was the first CD manufacturer in America, and has generally led in new format developments like CD-Plus/ECD. Also, their committment to customers made them the largest independently owned house in America prior to the acquisition. My personal experience with them leads me to believe that any new optical disc technology will be led and well-serviced by Cinram.
