Hi Carl,

I could be wrong but I think you'll be better off looking thru earlier posts here. I don't think Andy's page will have much on Q+2.

Ed

Carl,

Many others here can be far more helpful than I. They all got me going. Here's my 2 cents worth: Load from the CD, then immediately go to www.qp2.com and get the upgrades for both QP2 and Virtual. Do both of those.

Next, go back to about the middle of June for posts on all this help I got from the long timers. I got going with QP about that time and had multiple questions. They're all there for your help, too.

Good luck!

Ken

Regarding my QV virtual file problem

Andy put his email address on his web site and innocently suggested that anyone with problems could contact him. We spent most of the afternoon firing emails back and forth as he held my hand through the process of setting up a QV Profile and running a couple of QP scans he supplied to unquestionably populate the c:\meta directories. We got very, very close to solving all my QV mysteries.

There is one problem left. When I point WOW to the virtual files it sees the securities from the QP scans, but they have no price records. Here's the procedure I followed for my evening update.

- I'm running Win95, WOW Pro (brand new out of the box) and QV was downloaded last night.
- The QV dameon is sitting down in the tray hummin' along.
- The QV directory structure looks okay.
- Ran QP Internet download
- Ran Andy's 250Vol scan
- Ran Andy's HotMACD scan
- Ran WOW and selected Chart \ New Chart
- Pointed the Dir to c:\meta\hotmacd
- The security window shows the 24 securities that were in the scan's .lst file
- The entries look like this:

ANADIGICS INC C ANAD 01/01/90 07/16/98 n/a n/a n/a D
AMERICA WEST HL AWA 01/01/90 07/16/98 n/a n/a n/a D

- I double click on a security entry and get a msgbox saying
"Security has no price records!"

Anybody see any obvious step left I've left out?

As a trial member, I'm limited to something like two posts a day. After all I've learned from the TA threads I intend to join, but I haven't worn out the free 30 days yet :-).

Thanks to Andy! Boy, he sure does have a lot of patience with someone he's never met.

Carl

PS: When I finally get this straightened out, I'll try and publish a simple procedure method for creating and using virtuals. OTOH, I really don't want to become an expert on this inane part of the craft!
