software companies: SunMicrosystems ,Microsoft, Sybase all reported better than expected results.

SunMicrosystems Inc. (SUNW) 50 +5/8: supplier of enterprise network computing products posts a fiscal Q4 net of $0.73 a share, two cents above the First Call estimate, vs year-ago profit of $0.61 a share; revenues rose 16% to $2.9 bln.....

Microsoft Corp (MSFT) 117 5/16 -1/16: software giant reports Q4 net of $0.50 a share, 2 cents above the First Call mean and vs yr-ago net of $0.40 a share. Revenues rose 26% to $3.99 bln...

Sybase Inc. (SYBS) 9 +7/16: developer of client/ server software products reports Q1 net of $0.01 a share, vs a yr-ago earnings of $0.23 a share. The results were well above the First Call estimate, which called for a loss of $0.09 (13 analysts surveyed);

I think your position on Novell is a good one. I have a fair amount of knowledge about the company and think you are right on track.

BTW- I have a feeling the shorts will lose theirs soon.
