RE: shorting MSFT versus shorting IBM. PX, you're using hindsight when you compare MSFT and IBM. You're saying IBM was a good short, so now MSFT could be a good short.

But what you are leaving out is: hindsight showed when to short IBM. If you were early, you could have lost a fortune (on IBM).

Hindsight will also show when to short MSFT.

Regards,

Larry

PS: In the meantime, there are probably much better stocks to use for going short. And, if you don't like the valuation of MSFT, you can find other stocks to go long.

PX,
<<Do you believe that any of the negative factors I listed are incorrect or flawed? Can you bring to bear any significant factors that I've missed?>>
Nope, tend to agree with you. Would suggest waiting for new NT release as I infer Microsoft has very many eggs in that basket compared to the Win98 basket.
Also, as Larry points out, market psychology may be more in control of MSFT then pure fundamentals.
You want to prove you have 3 very large brass balls hangin, then short MSFT, CSCO, GE, KO, DELL. Come to think of it, might as well short the market.

Regards,

Yogi
