Notice that Unearned Revenues (under Liabilities on the Balance Sheet) increased from about $1.4B last year to about $2.9B this year.

Maybe I overestimated the gloom and doom part. :-) They could have easily padded the numbers if they had wanted to. I don't think MSFT wants the stock to keep running up. I predict a 5 to 10% trading range for a while.

Win98 isn't a large percentage of earnings, but 1 million in retail sales so far ain't bad. Add OEM sales and the pent up demand for boxes with Win98 pre-installed, throw in all the peripheral sales of suites and other apps, and next Q results look pretty good. And despite the naysayers, NT keeps on a rollin'.
