It would be interesting to see a chart of advertising expenditures vs. page hits and sales. Advertising expenses have skyrocketed and the effect is that the growth in page hits has slowed according to company statements and independent ratings.

Could it be that Amazonianut.com has reached a stage of market saturation in which the easy market exploitation is already behind them? The figures are starting to support this theory. Recent figures do not support the theory that Amazon can expand at rates seen when the company was exploiting a virgin market.

The figures point to increasing costs, lowering gross margins and decreasing return on advertising expenditures.
