HaHaHaHa
Thats a funny one. Blaming Intel for the demise of S3, CRUS, CREAF,
DIMD and Trident. C&T was bought Buy Intel.

The Real Balck Death is ATI Technologies. Intel doesn't even make
graphic cards to compete with CREAf and DIMD but ATI does. ATI
stole market share from SIII and Trident. Yet your blaming Intel!!
Hahahaha The i740 only came out this spring.

Ski,
Sounds like ATI is going through the same frustrations S3 had
when S3 was designed in on the Intel motherboards. Intel does not
want a graphics company to get to powerful.
I agree that Intel abuses its monopolistic influence on the computer
industry. IMHO they are a bunch of d bags, very smart D bags though.

Ski, once in awhile you get something right(not that often but once in awhile)<VBG> when you do its worth repeating.

Fear Intel.

They are a monopoly with endless cash. They can change the rules to suit
themselves. Look at math coprocessors. Whoops, you can't, can you? Look at chip
sets, well, look at what's left anyway. Intel is that big black disc in the sky coming
at you during your Independence Day. The Borg are weenies compared to these
guys. With stock options, Intel is also able to attract and retain highly competent
engineers. Did I mention the world's best fabs? How about those i740 pricing
rumors out of Taiwan? These guys are coming like the Black Death. If the U.S.
Federal Government wants to sit on its ass, it will let Intel obliterate yet another
competitive industry with Intel's anti-competitive pricing, changing of industry
standards into Intel standards, and bundled pricing (which just might happen
overseas). Anybody want to do a calculation of what the stock market values of
S3, Cirrus, C&T, Creative, Diamond, and Trident were before Intel entered the
graphics business vs. now? Think somebody in the Federal Government has a
calculator?

When the Black Death happened in the late 1300s, the Western World suffered
roughly a 50% population drop during that 40-50 year rampage. Doctors refused
to see their patients and headed for the hills. Entire towns were abandoned as
only a few residents were left. Legal and power structures broke down and chaos
reigned in the countrysides. Feudal battles raged for the scraps.

Be afraid.
