Ed, If only it was as easy as interstate trade. When it hits the border via post/UPS etc it is examined the the euro vat and duty is applied. I suspetc holland just has a VAT and has no sales tax as we know it. A vat is charged each time the item changes hands and there are no exceptions(except for export out of the ECM). That means a wholesaler who buys a part for $100 will pay the 15%VAT in addition(I have chosen the VAT at 15%, the VAT will almost certainly be different??, and I have used US$) so his cost is $115 all in. He then marks it up 10% to $110 and sells it and adds the 15% VAT to the invoice and collects $126.50. His profit is $10 and the VAT on his profit is $1.50(15%) and he will have to remit that $1.50 when he does his VAT at the end of the month. So when you try to get a Dutch storekeeper to not charge the VAT you will fail as he has paid the 15% VAT when he bought it and his only way to get that back is to get it from you and the VAT on the profit.
A sales tax system as in the USA has exemption certificates or resale certificates and you buy tax exempt all the way to the final buyer and if you deal in cash he can forget the sales tax as long as he can hide it inventory wise.
Our friend from Holland will be able to tell us the exact VAT he pays in the ECM and if it is all the same among the ECM?

Bill

Amd K6 266 sells for a little over 349 guilders, with one dollar being like (I havent looked it up.) 1.8 or 1.9 guilders.

With Amd the price difference is marginal, but with Intel cpu's tend to be 20% more expansive than in Usa. Intel usualy to release cpu's EARLIER in usa than in Europe. Where the pII300 was available in usa, it took 2 weeks before it was even for ORDER in Holland...

Intel just doesn't seem to find the European market as important enough as the American one. It has always been usual, that when you browse internet or read a mag, and you see advertizements for uhm , a pII300 or a Voodoo2, it was virtually not for sale in Europe, and you had to order it from usa, if you *really* wanted it.... ( I ment the time that the pII and Voodoo2 were like 2 weeks available in USA)

I'm going to sleep. I'm tired.... Tomorrow i'll continue this msg ;)
