IBM readies NT clustering software for Oracle's Parallel Server
PC Week

By Carmen Nobel, ZDNet

IBM in September will release Windows NT-based clustering software that enables Oracle Corp.'s Parallel Server to run across as many as six IBM Netfinity servers.

The Netfinity Cluster Enabler software takes advantage of several IBM products that recently received Oracle Parallel Server certification, according to IBM officials in Somers, N.Y.

With the software, up to six clustered, four-way Netfinity 7000 servers, attached to an IBM 8271 switch via a Fast Ethernet connection, can run Oracle's Parallel Server Version 8.04.

The technology also takes advantage of the MetaStor Fibre Channel subsystem from Symbios Inc.

The Netfinity Cluster Enabler will be bundled with Netfinity servers and will be available free on the Web to Netfinity customers, the officials said.

IBM can be reached at www.ibm.com.
