gonzongo (and others)... I'm very new to TA and a new user of QP2. How many of you use other TA tools like MetaStock, Windows on Wallstreet, etc.? Any of you use OmniTrader? Is there sufficient added value to these over QP2 to use both?

Yes there is definetely value as I have been trying to tell you. Omnitrader is much of black box and not a tool box. I have seen many people try it and dump it. Metastock and WOW are flexible tools that allow you to develop and test trading systems ideas. There are advantages to each which have been discussed extensively for the past two years here, on TA-Beginner, and on their respective threads. Personally I recommend metastock over WOW for everything except its system tester....

BTW: Both have free 30 day trials...

One of the things Omni-Trader has is their practice mode which lets you do a step by step playthrough. Note that is uses your data files, but randomly picks the stock (which is not identified) and start point. We've used it in AAII SIG as a group training tool. Nirvana is missing a bet by not offering it separately as an enticement, although it is just a "throw-away" in their full package.

MSW doesn't offer the same thing, nor I think (check this) does WOW - at least in my experience.
