Kurlak dampens enthusiasm

Shares of Intel (INTC) were unchanged at 84 1/4 as Merrill Lynch analyst Thomas Kurlak dampened enthusiasm about the leading chip company's second-quarter earnings report. "We see little compelling reason to expect much change in Intel's revenues or earnings, given the likely continuation of low-end PC growth relative to the high end," Kurlak said in a research report. "We believe this would continue to apply downward pressure on the company's average prices."

Kurlak said he expects Intel shares to trade sideways and possibly, decline in the near term.
