FYI, U.S. OPTIONS/OEX holds premium, await Microsoft Q4

<<Implied volatility in Microsoft options held steady at about 35 percent in the August contracts, unchanged from Wednesday.

''We're seeing the same pattern of large put sales by institutions,'' said Doug Rountree, a trader in the Microsoft pit at the Pacific Exchange.

Microsoft was expected to post a fiscal fourth quarter profit of $0.48 per share, according to a First Call survey.

Rountree said options traders were speculating on a slightly better ''whisper number'' of $0.50 or more.>>
