Did you know????

JPR:

'This question was posed by a philosopher-ethicist. Would one love or hate his mother, who is a prostitute and a whore, and conceived a child during one of those business encounters, but put the child through college, so that he or she won't have to do what she did.'

On a lighter note did you know Richard Pryor's (the comedian) mom was a prostitute but he often spoke of her very fondly!

Whoa!! You are going HAYWIRE!!. Go back and re-read what I said : "People in the US are more likely to regard India as oppressive and wretched."

If you can counter their views, do it. However, I cannot counter it, because of the weight of evidence that's in favor of what they say.

And btw, it is not the first time that I have come across mushy stuff like, "Would one love or hate his mother...?". Nor, I am sure, is it going to be the last time.

Jeez! The choice is yours -- come to grips with reality, or go off on the usual, "Alas! We are poor. That's why you make fun of us!" song-and-dance routine. Nobody will buy it.

RE: The oppressive wretched masses and similar Govt did educate you through subsidies to Govt and private schools and colleges. Take a look at the other side of the coin, and come back with some constructive ideas.

Here's one -- stop subsidizing higher education, and focus on elementary education. That way you will be giving something other than merely shedding crocodile tears about the oppressed masses. Again go back and check this year's budget and see how the allocations are distributed to different levels of education. The skinning of the poor masses continues unabated. Maybe I should ignore all that and just claim that I love India, and then every Indian would like me! Sheesh!

Dipy.
