Yes, but not in the area I'm talking about. They purchased Quinta last year, a company working w/ MO (magneto-optical) tech for storage devices.

What I'm talking about is optical media for consumer deliverables, not computer storage. Deliverables means anything you slap on a disc like movies, music, or software installers.

Most of this tech started and is developed by the entertainment world&#151Philips, Sony, Warner. It generally works its way into the computer tech world later. DAT tapes, CDs, and CD formats like E-CD/CD-Plus are good examles. DVD is also an example although tech companies are now getting involved in the 'early development' stage a bit sooner.
