The books make Jean Louis Gassee to be the bad guy. I spoke to Gassee at Be about this. He was never against licensing. To set the record straight, John Sculley could not go to wall street and ask them for a 2 year break from earnings, since sofware revenues from MacOS were talking off, but hardware profits were dwindling.

The CEO and CFO could not explain this to wall street which expected the profits that they were used to with the growth of software.

Gassee, is now trying to create MacOS multiplatform, by making BeOS available for Pentium, PowerPC etc. Its very MacOS like.
